How the call works

Where the mold is, how big the area looks, and whether there has been a leak, flood, or humidity problem.

A contractor in our network gives you a typical range for that kind of job and tells you what would change the price.
- 3Book only if you want to
An in-person inspection is your call. Nobody collects your number, and nobody calls you back unless you ask them to.
Have this ready when you call
You do not need all of it, but each item tightens the estimate.
- Location. Bathroom, basement, attic, crawl space, HVAC, or inside a wall.
- Rough size. Smaller than a sheet of paper, bigger than a door, or in between. The EPA's 10 square foot rule is the line most contractors use.
- Surface. Tile and metal wipe clean. Drywall, insulation, and carpet usually come out.
- Water history. A one-time pipe leak prices differently than a roof that has leaked for two summers.
- Who lives there. Infants, older adults, or anyone with asthma or allergies changes how a pro approaches it.
- A photo or two. Optional, but handy if the contractor asks you to text one after the call.
Signs it is worth a call

What jobs typically cost

Most single-room jobs land between $1,200 and $3,750. A quote far above that means the job is genuinely large, rebuild is included, or you need a second opinion.
What a written estimate should include
A phone number is a starting point. Before you sign anything, the written estimate should spell out:
- The affected area in square feet and which materials will be removed
- How the work zone will be contained (plastic barriers, negative air)
- Whether the moisture source is being fixed, or only the mold
- Drying, HEPA cleaning, and any antimicrobial treatment
- Whether rebuild is included, and whether clearance testing is offered
Frequently asked questions
Is the phone estimate a firm price?
No. It is a range based on what you describe. A firm price comes after someone sees the area, and it should arrive in writing with the items above.
Will someone call me back?
Not unless you ask them to. Lookmold does not collect your number. Any follow-up comes only from the contractor you spoke with, under their own privacy practices.
Does Lookmold do the work?
No. Lookmold is an education and referral site. Your call is answered by an independent mold remediation contractor in our network, and Lookmold may receive a referral fee for the call.
What if I only want an inspection or a test?
